NYU Winthrop Urology has a profound commitment to providing patients with access to the most advanced treatment options and has been at the forefront of clinical research in the areas of traditional and integrative medicine.
Clinical research refers to studies carried out on people based on a premise grounded in scientific analysis. It typically involves patients with specific medical conditions but these studies can also include people without any medical illness as a way to understand what causes disease. Clinical research includes epidemiological and behavioral studies, and outcomes and health-services investigations. Many clinical research studies evaluate the safety and effectiveness of medications, devices, diagnostic products and treatment of medical illness. Winthrop Urology often conducts these types of clinical research studies, called clinical trials, after approval and on-going oversight by an Internal Review Board. Some of our current clinical trials are reflected here.
Please contact our Research Coordinator at UrologyResearch@nyuwinthrop.org or 516-535-1900 for more information about any of these studies.
